NEPAL
The most recent field into which we have introduced our training material is the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal, situated between North India and Tibet.

The contemporary church in this Hindu nation is still in its infancy. Its national membership has grown from some 8,000 members to more than 400,000 in little more than ten years. Most of these new Christians, including their pastoral leaders have had little opportunity to study or train for Christian ministry. There is a tremendous and urgent need to supply resource training materials to them. To this end we have translated one of our basic courses into their language and supplied some 1500 ministers and churches with copies of it. We are also assisting several Bible Training Centres with a target of equipping 2,000 new leaders. The Nepalese version will shortly be made available on our web site.

Nepal is one of the economically poorest nations on earth, the national average income being some $120 per family per year. There are strict laws against “proselytising” i.e. persuading any person to change their religious persuasion. To do so can lead to lengthy imprisonment. Nevertheless, thousands are being won to Christ and the Christian Church is exploding numerically.
